Biographies

|
Cynthia Steinhauser, Ph.D., L.C.S.W.
Dr. Steinhauser received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago
and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oregon. She has
more than 30 years of experience in the fields of mental health
and corrections, and is the former Director of the Sex Offender
Treatment Program, Correctional Services of Canada, Pacific
Region. Dr. Steinhauser specializes in the cognitive/behavioral
treatment of sexual offenders. Her work includes a comparative
treatment outcome study of the effectiveness of cognitive and
behavioral methods in reducing deviant sexual arousal in groups
of incarcerated pedophiles. She has also spearheaded the development
of techniques for the treatment of the disabled offender and
has contributed countless hours of volunteer effort to assist
those with developmental disabilities. Dr. Steinhauser is the
Director of SSA. |

David Haven, Psy. D.
David Haven earned a
Doctorate in Psychology in 2005 at the California School of
Professional Psychology and is a Licensed Psychologist in
Oregon. He works with individuals, groups, and couples.

Richard Nakanishi, M.A., L.P.C. |

James L. Scharmota, L.P.E.
James Scharmota is a graduate of the Arizona and Oregon Police
Academies. After serving 23 years with the Canby Police Department,
Mr. Scharmota entered the Western Oregon State College School
of Polygraphy. Since graduation, he has been conducting
polygraph examinations for the public and private sector. His
office is located at 10211 SW Barbur Blvd Suite A201, Portland,
OR 97219, Phone 503-266-2533, Fax 503-246-5430. He
consults with therapists and corrections personnel throughout
Multnomah, Marion, Washington, and Clackamas Counties. Mr. Scharmota
is a member of the Northwest Polygraph Examiners Association
and the American Polygraph Association. He is nationally certified
in the Post-Conviction testing of Sexual Offenders.

David J. Schuessler, M.A., L.P.C.
David Schuessler holds a Masters degree in the Community
Psychological Counseling program at Southeast Missouri State
University. David also had a degree in Human Services and
Professional Leadership from the University of
Wisconsin-Oshkosh. David has worked as a sex offender therapist
for the past 9 years, working with
individuals, groups, couples and families. Although David has
worked primarily with individuals with sexual behavior problems,
he also has experience and expertise in working with depression,
anxiety, developmental disabilities, and sexual identity issues.
David’s has an eclectic approach to counseling that includes
components of cognitive, behavioral, and existential theories. |

Elizabeth Stotler-Turner, M.S.
Elizabeth Stotler-Turner holds a Masters degree in Clinical
Psychology from Pacific University. She is currently working
towards her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on
Forensic Psychology, from the same university. Elizabeth also
holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Marylhurst
University. Elizabeth has worked with juveniles and adults
convicted of sexual crimes for over four years in a variety of
settings, including outpatient treatment, community corrections,
and research. Further, Elizabeth is on the Ethics Committee of
the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and
is on the Board of the Oregon Chapter of ATSA. Elizabeth is
certified in the state of Oregon as an Associate Sex Offender
Therapist. |

Meredith Workman, M.S. |

Will Brown
Mr. Brown is a Monarch Certified Plethysmograph Technician.
He has extensive experience in plethysmograph testing and data
interpretation. Mr. Brown’s expertise, training, and natural,
easy-going demeanor puts clients at ease before and during testing,
insuring the most valid test results. |

Brian Dinda
Mr. Dinda holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the
University of Wisconsin in Superior in Business Administration
and Political Science. He also holds teacher certification
in Oregon for secondary social studies and special education.
Brian is the office manager for the clinic. |
