Introduction
In 1978, The Sexual Abuse Clinic (now SSA) was created by a number of
professional therapists trained in the assessment and treatment of
sexual offenders, their victims, and families. The mission of the
Clinic is to reduce the risk of sexual abuse by providing services
to individuals who have sexual behavior problems. Approximately 80%
of the Clinic's patients have been adjudicated and are referred
through community corrections agencies, while the remaining 20% are
either self-referred or enter treatment on the advice of family or
friends. Since its inception, the Clinic has treated more than 8,000
offenders, including 1,000 adolescents and 100 female offenders. The
Clinic employs several
professional therapists in order to serve a wide clientele and provides
extensive resources for coordination with community agencies.

Of special interest to Clinic staff is the assessment and treatment
of adolescent offenders, female offenders, and offenders who are
developmentally delayed or psychiatrically impaired. These subgroups
have long been neglected and deserve intensive treatment to prevent
sexual reoffense. To accomplish this goal, special resources have
been developed to meet the needs of these individuals.
Please feel free to contact any member of the Clinic for further
information or assistance.
